Ladybug Ink Blog Hop...2013 Holiday Catalog

Welcome to the Ladybug Ink Blog Hop!  This month we were to create something with new product from the 2013 Holiday Catalog.  This years catalog was set up quit a bit differently then it has ever been before.  When I first received it, I couldn't figure out if I was looking at Stampin' Success (a magazine we demonstrators receive every other month) or the new Holiday catalog.  If you have had the opportunity to get your hands on one you probably know what I'm talking about.  If not, go to the Stampin' Up website and check it out!
So, I'm pretty excited about this months card.  It was completely MOC (my own creation).  I guess I "kind of" got some inspiration from one of the samples in the Holiday catalog, but it would be a stretch to call it a CASE.  To make it all the more amazing, a semi-miracle occurred and I actually started and completed this card prior to midnight of the day it was due to post. Therefore, I was able to photograph it in natural light!  It sure does make a difference in the appearance of the card in the pictures.  I thought it was key since I used some of the shimmer spritz that is no longer available.  You can see in the second photo how the front of the card glimmers.
While I was creating this card all sorts if ideas for variations kept popping into my mind, so I have many things to try on the next versions.

Can't wait to send this one off to one of my lucky friends!!!!

Have a fantastic weekend and Happy Stamping!

Ladybug Ink Blog Hop....Roll Call!

Well hello there fellow Kraftifarians!  If hopping, you just came from Kay Jantz's blog and have probably already heard that this month we are showing off Stampin' Up's great selection of ribbon.

The ribbon used is the new 3/4" Chevron Ribbon in Smokey Slate and I can assure you I will be purchasing more (if not all) of the colors offered in this style.  I love it almost as much as the 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain offered a few years back.  The watermark stamp is from the Hello, Lovely set stamped in the Illuminate Ink.  As you can probably guess the hexagon is from the new Six-Sided Sampler along with the greeting.  And lastly, the DSP is from the Winter Frost Paper Stack in the new Holiday Catalog.  I finished the tag off with a dot of the Silver Dazzling Details.

If you are anything like me and LOVE ribbon, you have probably been searching for the answer to keeping it all organized yet having it easily accessible.  Well have I got the product for you!  The Ribbon Roll Control is just what we have all been looking for.  Designed by the lovely Trish, a fellow crafter, and her husband, it is THE most functional ribbon storage EVER!  Have a look and purchase a few for yourself at http://www.ribbonrollcontrol.com/.

Have a fantastic weekend and Happy Stamping!

Ladybug Ink Blog Hop....New In Colors

Welcome to my blog.  If hopping, you just came from Kay Jantz's blog.
We are show casing the new In Colors from Stampin' UP! this month.  I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of them at first, but I am really starting to like the Pistachio Pudding, Costal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar.  So much so, that I decided to use them in a "manly" card for my son who will be having surgery today (Friday).  A few weeks back we discovered his port (central line) was not working properly and after a line study they found the catheter that comes out of the port had a crack in it.  So today he will be having his port replaced.  It should be a fairly simple procedure and he will be out of the hospital today, but if you have a second we would really appreciate some good thoughts and/or prayers sent his way.  Thanks!  I digress, back to the card!

I also used a technique called double embossing.  I was inspired by this card Nikki Spencer created:

I had tried it once before with so-so results however, I felt the double embossing on this card turned out pretty nice.  I was going to keep it all white then, in a moment of indecisiveness, swiped the Baked Brown Sugar ink pad over the surface to accentuate the embossing.   In hindsight I realize the brown was probably not the best choice to do this with, but at 1030 pm I wasn't about to start over.  So... I soldiered on and added some stars from Simply Stars, because my son is such a rock star, and the Feel Better greeting from Sassy Salutations.  I cut out the smaller stars with paper snips and was pleasantly surprised to find the old Star Punch from past SU! catalogs fit the large stars perfectly (thank you Stampin' UP!)  I didn't take a picture of the inside, but I did stamp more of the stars directly onto the white cardstock base on the interior of the card.
I have to point out my new card stand (I know there is a proper name for it but I cannot remember what it is, frog something or another)  I purchased it at The Hen House Paperie, one of our local scrapping store here in ABQ and am really digging it.
An iTunes gift card will be added inside so he can purchase some more apps for his iPod.  That ought to put a smile on his sweet little face!

Have a fantastic weekend and Happy Stamping!

LadyBug Ink. Blog Hop...New Product!!!!

Welcome to my blog. If hopping, you just came from Kay Jantz's blog.
Woo Hoo!!! The new catalog from Stampin' UP! is finally out and wow, I want it all!!!  This month for our blog hop we are showing off new product from the catalog.  I have been holding off on purchasing too much because I'm hoping I might win some of the new products at the Stampin' UP! Convention in July and then I won't have to buy it!  (fingers crossed)  I'm sure my expectations about the give-aways are a little high, but hey, a girl can dream, right?!  So here is my card made with all new colors (except for the Summer Starfruit) and the new Label Love stamp set.
I feel like the card started out really strong after stamping the background with the Label Love stamp and then it kind of fizzled.  It seems like I've been having trouble with strong card finishes lately.  I don't know what the deal is, but I need to get out of this slump!    Hopefully the remedy is inspiration in Salt Lake City!!!

Happy Stamping!

Good Bye, Pinwheel Parade!

It is that time of the year again when Stampin' UP!  retires a selection of their stamps and accessories to make way for the new.  This blog hop is dedicated to this years retiring products.  If hopping, you just came from Nichole Gonzales Jaramillo's blog
The products I've decided to showcase tonight are from the Pinwheel Parade Simply Scrappin' Kit.  The card literally took me 5 minutes to create.  I absolutely love the color combinations from this kit.

The decorative label and banner shapes come pre-cut and are stickers.  All I had to do was cut the patterned background paper to fit and attach it to the white base; add the stickers; stamp the sentiment and throw on some rhinestones.  5 minutes tops. If continuing on the hop you will be visiting Carmelita Wasson's blog.  Thanks for visiting!

Happiest Birthday, Ladybug Ink. Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog. If hopping, you just came from Nichole Gonzales Jaramillo's blog.  Just a super quick post tonight as it is WAY past my bedtime.  As you probably have surmised, the theme this month is a birthday card.  Being as how it is spring and all (you never would have guessed it as it was snowing here on Tuesday!) I made my card in a palette of pastel colors.  The pink is Blushing Bride which will be returning in the upcoming 2013-14 Stampin' Up catalog!  Yay!!!!  Sadly, Certainly Celery (the green I used) will be retiring, along with Baja Blue.  As hard as it is to say good-bye to some of the retiring colors I'm super excited with some of the "new" colors they are bringing out of retirement.  They are new to me since I have only been using SU products for less than 3 years.

Well, that is all. Told you it would be short.  Thanks for visiting. If continuing on the hop you will be visiting Carmelita Wasson's blog.

"Hoppy" Valentines Day! Lady Bug Ink Style

Welcome to my blog. If hopping, you just came from Kay Jantz's blog.   If you're like me you usually don't start a project until nearly the last minute (because if you wait until the last minute it only takes a minute, right?  Yeeeeahh, ok, maybe not quite!)  So this time around I've started at least thinking about what my boys will be taking for their Valentines Day parties at school.  My kids have way too much candy as it is so I like to give "stuff" for the school parties as opposed to candy.  This year I found some small bubble wands and bubble solution at Michaels and discovered they will fit in the larger tag on the Two Tags Die from Stampin' UP!  I cut two little lines on the bottom folded edge of the tag to create a band that holds the bubbles perfectly.  The first tag is more of a "boy-ish" valentine; not too mushy.  You will also notice that I have made the valentine from two separate tags to hide the notched bubble holder portion.

The second valentine is more of a feminine valentine.  Instead of bubbles, I've placed an amazing lip balm made by a wonderful company called, Lemongrass Spa.  It is a seasonal product only produced during the months just before Valentines Day.  It is called Chocolate Raspberry Lip Balm and is nearly all natural.  (I always stock up so that I have plenty to last me all year long.)   It is created from only one layer of paper.  In this valentine part of the lip balm shows through in the front.  I like how both Valentines turned out and think that the amount of procrastination will dictate if I make the "peek-a-boo" version or the 2-layer covered up version for my boys class valentine's.

New Spring Catty! LadyBug Ink Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog. If hopping, you just came from Kay Jantz's blog.
The new Spring Catalog from Stampin' UP! has been unveiled and I must say that it has some pretty great stuff in it.  I'm realling diggin the hexagon embossing folder.  There were a couple of samples in the catalog that used the hex folder.  I didn't see any that had the negative space used so I thought I would give it a try.  I like how it came out and I LOVE this paper from the 6" paper stack.
